Building Community,
Investing in the Future
Birmingham is an amazing place. Let’s build on what works and fix what doesn’t to foster a stronger sense of community and ensure success for future generations.
My name is Kevin Kozlowski, and I’m running for Birmingham City Commission. Our city is special in so many ways. By focusing on building community through walkability, mitigating the issues caused by Woodward, and by finding a long-term solution to our infrastructure needs, I know we can build stronger communities today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Join me.
I’m a father, software engineer, and Chair of the Advisory Parking Committee.
This city is my home, and I want to do my part to make it the best it can be.
My Priorities
Fostering Community
Improving Street Safety and Walkability
Preparing Birmingham and its Infrastructure for the Future
Supporting our Seniors
Focused on Walkability and Safety
Making our streets safer for everyone is essential for bringing all of us together and fostering a stronger community. I will focus on bringing small, inexpensive improvements to our neighborhood streets to mitigate speeding, provide safer crossings, and make our streets friendlier and safer for all users.
The Woodward Divide
As a resident living very close to Woodward, the issues caused by having such a large and high-speed road running through the city are always near the top of my mind. While the issues of noise, speeding, and the difficulty of crossing safely are obvious, the solutions will be difficult and will require the buy-in of state officials. However, other communities have made great progress on this, and I will bring the focus and determination necessary to begin to repair the Woodward Divide.
Investing in Birmingham’s Future
Birmingham has an infrastructure problem. Much of our road, water, sewer and storm infrastructure is in need of repair, replacement, or upgrade. These projects are expensive, and there is no silver bullet. As a Commissioner, I will prioritize infrastructure investment, finding new ways to boost spending and reduce costs to ensure that the city can be a home for new families for many years to come.
Supporting our Seniors
Seniors are an important and growing group in Birmingham. Next has been providing essential senior services and programming as well as other opportunities for seniors to stay active and connected to our community. We need to make sure we support Next, make it easier to age in-place, and support walkability for seniors who no longer feel comfortable driving. Birmingham should be a community where everyone has a place regardless of age.
